Friends of The Library

About the Friends of the Library

As Friends of the Benewah County Library District, Tri-Community Branch, we encourage inquiring, imagining, dreaming, creating, and discovering. We enhance the library as advocates to strengthen and support their endeavors to inform, educate and engage the community.

The Friends of Tri-Community Library is a non-profit community organization. We accomplish this primarily by promoting public involvement in the Library and by raising money through the Friends‚ annual events.

Our annual events include but are not limited to: Adopt-a-Mile highway clean-up, Harvest Fest  (plant, book and bake sale), Summer Reading support through volunteerism, PTO Halloween carnival booth, Christmas raffle and bake sale, and the UpRiver Pioneer Day community celebration.

Membership in this organization shall be open to all individuals in sympathy with its purposes.

Participation shall be the defining element for membership. The Friends meet the third Monday of every other month, beginning with January. No dues or membership criteria shall exclude participation by any interested person. Each membership shall be entitled to one vote.
The officers of this organization shall be a president, vice-president, treasurer, and secretary.
Officers shall be nominated from the floor at the annual election meeting with the consent of the nominee. Officers shall be elected by majority vote of those present at the annual meeting for the term of one year and shall begin the meeting following the Annual Election Meeting.

Vacancies on the Executive Board shall be filled by appointment by the President with consent of the members. Their terms shall continue until the next Annual Election Meeting.

Meetings of this organization shall be called to order as our yearly calendar dictates.

The January meeting shall be the Annual Election Meeting. Those members present at any meeting shall constitute a quorum.

The current officers are: Joanne Dwyer, President, Becky Ahonen, Vice-President, Dawn Ahonen, Secretary, Mary Price, Treasurer.
